Female potential flourishes without inhibitions in Panama

Currently one of the most major challenges of Latin America and the world is to promote new alternatives for growth, transportation and inclusive development, which connect people to the future, through technology. In this regard, some studies such as “Expect the Unexpected”, by KPMG, revealed a few years ago that excessive consumption, the environmental crisis and the effects of accelerating climate change suggest that, under current conditions, the world and our society is collapsing.

Thus, we are facing a paradigmatic moment for communities, companies, organizations and government institutions at all levels, where there is a key consensus: for a better future, the role of women is crucial from childhood, as well as access to technologies driven by the human model. In this sense, skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) are essential to achieve the change of direction that is needed.

The importance of the STEAM area Thus, knowledge and training in STEAM fields are positioned as a driving force for innovation, fairer growth and development opportunities for women, and thus for the whole society: since, when we bring women closer girls to technological tools and educational projects in science, art, engineering and mathematics, it affects their families, communities and economies.

In this sense, and as part of our super mission of connecting people through technology to improve the world, u inDrive we promote the STEAM GIRLS 360° initiative in Panama, which includes 30 girls between the ages of 10 and 18 in an intensive three-month program, which promotes the development of technical and leadership skills, with a social impact. In addition to consolidating knowledge about their rights and duties as citizens.

This initiative has key allies FUNDESTEAM (National Foundation for the Development of STEAM), as a partner in implementation; and AIESEC, whose team of volunteers plays an important role in promoting and implementing our activities, based on its mission to develop young leadership in Panama.

The main component on which the project is based is technological training: participants will access a virtual simulator where they will explore essential concepts in robotics and programming, in order to apply them in practical projects. Likewise, another of the basics of the program was development of social and civic skillspromoting civic empowerment and social awareness.

World Championship in Robotics

So, from the total group of STEAM GIRLS 360° participants The best project was selected, and the team had the opportunity to attend the “World Robotics Olympiad 2023”, which takes place in Panama from November 7 to 9. This group prepared an inDrive robot that moves along a simulated city track, where it will programmatically avoid obstacles. The project plans to soon establish the “InDrive Robotics Club”. As a company, it is our belief that we will continue to promote actions that connect people, through technology and beyond mobility. Therefore, the opportunity to be represented by a girls’ team at this World Olympics is a milestone that emphasizes the importance of female leadership and performance science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. All as a step towards a better future.
