Swiss couple died in an accident in Sardinia

Two Swiss nationals were killed in a traffic accident in southern Sardinia on Monday morning. The man and woman, who were driving a Ferrari, probably collided with an oncoming camper while overtaking.

The couple, aged 67 and 63, died at the scene of the accident, Italian media report.

The accident took place in the town of San Giovanni Suergiu. After the collision, the sports car was thrown off the road, overturned and caught fire, Italian news agency Ansa reported, citing police.

A Lamborghini driving behind the Ferrari also reportedly left the road. However, the car’s occupants were not seriously injured. The same goes for tourists in campers.

The Swiss couple are said to have taken part in a sports car meeting, the ‘Sardinia Supercar Experience’. The participants started in Teulada and traveled to Olbia in the north of the island. (rbu/sda/ans)
