82 girls were poisoned in Afghanistan

Almost a hundred people, including 82 girls, were poisoned last weekend in two schools from Afghanistan and transferred to the hospital, official sources reported to EFE on Monday.

Last Saturday, as many as 56 elementary school students were poisoned, plus 3 teachersa teacher, two janitors and a parent at a school in the northern province of Sar-e-Pul, provincial information director Mufti Ameer said.

In the same region, another 26 students and four female teachers were also poisoned the next day, Ameer added.

The same source assures that all the students who were transported to the hospital had nausea and breathing problems “because unknown persons sprayed poison in the classrooms”.

However, his health condition “It’s fine”he added, while authorities reported that investigations had already begun to arrest those responsible.

The attack comes at a time when female secondary and university education is banned in Afghanistan, as part of a series of bans against women that have been imposed the Taliban since coming to power in August 2021.
