What do you think of the abolition of compulsory health insurance? Let us know!

The population has to dig deeper and deeper into their pockets for health insurance. Premiums will also increase by 6 to 10 percent next year. Before the national elections in the fall, the parties are therefore proposing a wide variety of approaches to reform the system and reduce costs.

Natalie Rickli, for example, caused a stir: in an interview with the Sunday newspaper, Zurich’s health director called for thinking about abolishing compulsory insurance. The Swiss healthcare system had failed, the SVP politician said.

In the summer there was also a proposal from the FDP. She hired a budget health insurance company, which would restrict services, but reduce premiums. With the budget model, the deductible would be higher, generic medicines would be mandatory and the electronic patient record would be mandatory.

Green national councilor Manuea Weichelt called for the amount of the premium to be dependent on income. It’s not okay for them that a billionaire pays as much for basic insurance as a Migros saleswoman.

In the meantime, the SP wants to launch another initiative for a uniform fund. The waiver of premium initiative has already been established. This states that a household must spend a maximum of ten percent of its income on health insurance.

But what does the population think about all these proposals? Does it want the obligation to be abolished? Does she want income-related bonuses? Does she want reforms at all?

In collaboration with social research institute DemoSCOPE, we want to get to the bottom of the situation. By participating in the study, you help us to paint a differentiated picture of the situation. Thank you!

We will evaluate the research in the coming days and present the results on watson.ch. Multiple entries are not allowed.
