That’s why electric cars can accelerate so quickly

Electric vehicles achieve acceleration values ​​that were unimaginable only a short time ago. For example, the 1,900 hp Rimac Nevera accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than two seconds with a top speed of 412 km/h. But you don’t have to spend 2.4 million euros on the Croatian supercar to experience the speed of modern electric cars. Because even smaller electric cars can easily outperform many larger cars. But how is that possible?

There is no clutch and shift time

The reason lies in the nature of the electric drive. Electric motors deliver their maximum torque almost immediately as soon as the accelerator pedal is pressed. There are no clutch or shift times and only low mass moments of inertia – unlike conventional internal combustion engines. These features allow very fast acceleration from a standstill and are also great fun for many drivers.

However, if you often drive at higher speeds on provincial roads or motorways, it is advisable to pay close attention to the performance data when choosing an electrically powered vehicle. This ensures that the vehicle also offers good acceleration and sufficient power in such situations.
