It’s a reflection of the team this year.” Martin was mentally ready. “I tried to make the best of it. I had to stay mentally strong in this situation. After conceding a goal, some of my teammates came up to me and said, ‘It’s okay, we’ll score a goal for you ‘” He describes the promotion as a great relief. “People don’t know that we’ve had an incredible, but also very exhausting season. Now three quarters of the team is physically and mentally exhausted, but it’s nice to see all those people in the stands. We had a goal and we achieved it.”

Brian Beyer’s story is remarkable. The Frenchman went through several amateur competitions at home and signed his first professional contract with Yverdon at the beginning of 2022. On Tuesday evening he scored the only goal for the Vaudois. A goal synonymous with ascension.
