19. PalmaVela decided their winners in a very tight final day

The fourth and last day of the regatta was resolved this Sunday with the discussion of the last tests and changes on the podium of nine of the fourteen participants

The wind was heavy in the bay of Palma this Sunday, but that did not prevent the Regatta Committee from blowing the horn for the start of the exciting last day of PalmaVela, which crowned its champions in the nineteenth edition with 110 sailboats of 20 nationalities, in fourteen competition categories.

The winners of the 19th PalmaVele are: “Galateia” (Maxi A), “Stormvogel” (Maxi B), “Elena Nova” (ORC 0-1), “Scamp Three” (ORC 2), “Immac Fram” (ORC 3) , “Just the Job” (ORC 4-5), “Ffinally” (ORC Sportboat), “Smerit” (ORC A2 0-3), “Blaumarina I” (ORC A2 4-5), “Team Balearia RCNP » ( J80), «Capa» (Dragon), «Seljm» (6 meters), «Marigan» (Time) and «Mala Thila» (Spirit of Tradition).

There were no surprises in the fleet of Maxi A. “Galateia” Chris Flowers, with David M. Leuschen at the controls, recorded a fourth partial victory. The Maxi Bs also finished unchanged in the lead, with Ermanno Traverso “Stormvogel” able to confirm his victory with second place in the final test.

In the longest cruise category, ORC 0-1 Christian Plump and Javier Sanz’s “Elena Nova” confirmed the PalmaVela title this Sunday after finishing tied for third place with Tomás Gasset’s “Urbania”. In ORC 2 on the final day, he caused a podium upset, and in the overall standings he beat “Scamp Three” Maciej Gnatowski, who started from third place on the provisional podium. In the ORC 3 class, the tie that started with the two leading teams was resolved in favor of “Immac Fram”.

A dispute in the final test in the bay meant it was the drop-off game for the ORC 4-5 fleet, allowing Scott Beattie’s “Just The Job” to shake off yesterday’s fourth-place finish and regain top form. ultimate.

In addition, in the Sportboat division, John Walker’s “Ffinally” bid farewell to this edition with two partial victories that eased the final victory. Another of the classes where the last day ended with changes on the podium was ORC A2 0-3, where the victory was awarded to the sailboat that took second place yesterday, Jorma Nuutinen’s “Sopu Tres”.

Meanwhile, “Tem Balearia RCNP”, “Seljm” and “Capa” are monodesign winners in the Alpha zone of the regatta field for J80, Dragon and 6 Meters. On the other hand, “Marigan” and “Little Thila” won in Time and the spirit of tradition.
