Zenhaeuser sets the best Swiss slalom record

If the FIS handed out a crystal ball for the strongest comeback of the season, Ramon Zenhousen would definitely have this trophy!

In December, the silver winner of the Olympic Games was only 25th in the slalom world ranking, at the end of winter the 2.02 meter tall giant from Upper Valais is in third place in this ranking. The best thing about it: after winning in Chamonix at the beginning of February, the 30-year-old once again outperformed the competition in the final slalom in Soldeu (Andorra). Zenhäusler is seven hundredths ahead of the Norwegian Lucas Braathen.

Zenhausen has already been written off

The “double meter” is completely upset after his sixth World Cup victory: “It is particularly emotional for me because many people wrote me off after last winter, which was marked by injuries and material problems. An expert claimed that my time was up because I wasn’t improving my skiing technique, but now that I’ve proven otherwise gives me a special sense of satisfaction.”

The expert approached by Bürchner is Frank Wörndl (63, De). The 1987 World Slalom Champion called Zenhäusler a few weeks ago: “I apologized to Ramon for my misjudgment, we had a very good conversation. He’s a great guy, I salute him!”

Slalom team better than ever

All in all, we can bow to the entire “Zigzag” team at Swiss Ski. With four wins (two each by Daniel Yule and Zenhousen), two second places (by Loïc Meillard and Zenhousen) and two third places (by Meillard and Yule), the Swiss delivered the best slalom result in 56-year World Cup history. But the small crystal ball goes to Norway: Lucas Braathen (23) wins the general classification ahead of his compatriot Henrik Kristoffersen (28).
