The Russian army is burned out

Concerns about a mega-Russian offensive in the spring were great. However, so far Putin’s troops have not increased. NATO is sure that this will continue to be the case.

“That’s all there is to it,” a senior NATO official tells the “image”. It appears that Russia is unwilling or unable to carry out the expected major offensive.

No progress for Putin’s army

The reasons behind the missing offensive: There is a lack of political will to mobilize significantly more Russian soldiers. The Russian army increasingly feels the inferiority of their war material. In addition, ammunition stocks continue to run out, while the army command is concerned about the loss of even more aircraft in Ukraine.

“Russia has already lost 130 planes in Ukraine and there are crews for another 1,500, but they are not being used,” the NATO official told Bild. The reason: Ukraine’s air defenses are getting stronger, making air warfare more difficult.

The misery for the Kremlin can be seen on the battlefield: while Putin’s troops – supported by mercenaries from the Wagner group – grit their teeth at Bachmut, the tank offensive further south at Wuhledar also fails.

NATO beamer: Ukraine liberated for winter

According to the NATO official, the number of Russian casualties continues to rise. While last July 173 Russian troops were wounded or killed per day, in February 2023 there were 824. “These figures are many times higher than Ukrainian losses,” the official said.

Therefore, the NATO official expects the war to end soon: he expects not only a Ukrainian counter-offensive in the next six months, but also that the war will end this year. The NATO official assumes a Ukrainian victory and the liberation of large parts of the country before winter. (Darling)
