If Sierro gets minutes against Denmark or Ireland, he would become the second oldest debutant in the Yakin era, behind Mattia Bottani (debuted in 2022 as a 31-year-old). However, his positioning does not change the hierarchy in midfield: this part of the team remains the territory of captain Granit Xhaka, flanked by Remo Freuler and Denis Zakaria.

In addition to Sierro, Omeragic and the possible nomination of a Servette player, Yakin is sticking to his proven staff. In the goalkeeper position, Yvon Mvogo will probably be preferred to Philipp Köhn, because the latter has lost his regular place in Monaco. A call for Breel Embolo is still too early. Köhn’s teammate in Monaco has only just returned to team training after tearing his cruciate ligament. If Embolo is spared a setback until the European Championship and returns to footballing form, he should be at the center of the attack.
