The waves of strikes in air traffic in Germany are not subsiding, on the contrary. After a new strike on Thursday, there are also work stoppages at several airports the next day.
The Verdi union also called on aviation security staff on Friday to carry out warning strikes at several German airports. Hanover Airport announced this on Wednesday. It initially remained unclear which airports besides Hannover were affected.
Verdi has already called on aviation security forces to carry out further warning strikes on five German airports on Thursday. According to the union, the daylong strike will gradually affect the airports of Hamburg, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Cologne and Berlin over the course of the night. Passengers can no longer enter the security area. An extension of the strike had previously not been ruled out.
According to the airport association ADV, around 90,000 passengers will have to prepare for flight cancellations and delays as a result of the warning strike announced on Thursday at the five German airports. The association currently expects more than 580 canceled flight connections on Thursday alone.
The collective labor agreement negotiations in the field of aviation security concern the working conditions of approximately 25,000 employees of private security service providers. On behalf of the Federal Police, they check passengers, staff and luggage at the entrances to the security zone.
So far, five rounds of negotiations in the collective labor agreement dispute have yielded nothing. More than 1,100 flights were canceled during the first wave of warning strikes at eleven airports. Verdi advocates an hourly wage increase of 2.80 euros over a period of twelve months, with overtime bonuses starting sooner from the first hour of overtime. (rbu/sda/dpa)
