The Bayern fans were on probation, which was revoked after riots against Lazio.

Football record champion Bayern Munich has not yet accepted the exclusion of fans from the away match of a possible Champions League quarter-final. “We have requested the reasons for the decision and are investigating the possibility of an objection,” CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said on the Munich homepage.

The European Football Union (Uefa) disciplinary committee had imposed the penalty of an away match without fans after the club’s supporters breached probation conditions in the first leg of the round of 16 away to Lazio. Dreesen regretted the incidents in Italy.

“We had already made an urgent appeal to our supporters in December and asked them to refrain from further pyrotechnic activities,” said the club boss, but described the verdict as “a very harsh decision”: “The team therefore lacks important support. , and it especially affects the fans who always behave correctly.”

The punishment also applies to next season

The Bayern fans set off fireworks in the “Stadio Olimpico” in Rome and also threw objects into the interior. In addition to the ban, the residents of Munich were fined a total of 50,750 euros.

In October, UEFA had already imposed a fine of 40,000 euros on Bayern for fan misconduct. This also involved a two-year probationary period, which has now been violated.

If the Munich team cannot reverse the 0-1 result from the first leg on Tuesday in the second leg against Lazio (9 p.m. in the Blick live ticker) and are eliminated, the punishment would also apply to next season. The ruling applies to all UEFA club competitions. (AFP)
