Frankfurt’s deal almost complete: why an Amenda change is good for YB

The transfer of Aurèle Amenda (20) to Frankfurter Eintracht is about to come home. There are only two questions left to clarify: When will the Zeelander go to the Bundesliga – immediately or only in the summer? And at what price?

These are fundamental questions, but in principle the YB and the SGE agree. Because there is roughly agreement on the transfer amount. There is about ten million francs in the room. But when it comes to the overall package, there are still slightly different ideas. But the Hessians have the money. For Randal Kolo Muani (to PSG) and Jesper Lindström (to Napoli) alone, they earned more than 120 million euros this summer and achieved a transfer surplus of around 80 million.

And Amenda is also a player with a very interesting financial perspective. A move to the Premier League in two or three years could cost as much as 40 million. And YB would benefit too.

And yes, the player and the club are practically in agreement. The employment contract will not fail.

So the only question that remains is: will the central defender move to the Hessian metropolis immediately or only in the summer? There is a lot to be said for immediate change. The sixth place in the Bundesliga definitely needs a central defender position. Because there are hardly any alternatives for the trio Robin Koch, Willian Pacho and Tuta. In addition, it seems likely that the very talented Pacho (22) will leave in the summer. Many big clubs – including Real Madrid – have their eyes on the Ecuadorian. It doesn’t hurt to be proactive and sign the replacement now.

This is also why YB might also be interested in an immediate change. Because Amenda will be gone by summer at the latest. Mohamed Ali Camara has also attracted interest. If he plays a strong African Cup of Nations with Guinea, these could increase even further. And Fabian Lustenberger is making his farewell season. This is not (yet) official. But the evidence all points to a resignation in the summer.

What would mean: With Loris Benito, YB only has one central defender left this summer. It would almost be remiss not to approach this situation proactively and sign a player now who will also play in Bern in the new season.

But YB doesn’t have this new player yet. And VR sports manager Christoph Spycher and sports director Steve von Bergen make Amenda’s immediate departure dependent on this. Since YB has been looking for a new center back for quite some time, they are not starting from scratch. Therefore, a new man could soon be on the mat.
