Taylor Hall (back) will miss the rest of the season for the Chicago Blackhawks.

The start of the season for the Chicago Blackhawks went seriously wrong. With ten points from 17 games, the team from the American state of Illinois is in second place in the entire competition. And now this: Taylor Hall (32) is out for the rest of the season.

The veteran NHL forward, who only moved to Chicago in the summer, had to undergo surgery on his right anterior cruciate ligament. “He’s very disappointed,” coach Luke Richardson said of his protégé. It was an accumulation of several small injuries, which made the knee unstable.

Hall injury ‘heartbreaking’

On November 9, Hall was injured in the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he fell on his knee after a collision with Michael Eyssimont (27). He remained down and had to be escorted off the field. In the training that followed, he was repeatedly hit on the knee, Richardson says.

The Canadian then had to take a two-game break before returning to the ice twice. Last Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets (3:7), the left-handed shooter was out again – and now until the end of the season. In the ten games he played, he contributed two goals and two assists.

Connor Bedard (18), who was drafted number 1 this season and is the top scorer of the NHL franchise with 16 points ahead of the Swiss Philipp Kurashev (24, 11 points), finds the news “heartbreaking”. He and Hall often lined up together on the same offensive line. “A great hockey player and a great person who means so much to us.” (ch)
