The re-election of Philipp Studhalter (47) was only a formality because he was the only candidate for the position of president of the Swiss football league. It became official on Friday morning.

The only thing that could have made Studhalter’s choice more difficult was the announcement of FC Luzern. The Super League club accuses its former CEO and chairman of misleading the board of directors in his office so that Bernhard Alpstaeg (78) came to power. However, the complaint was hardly an issue with the SFL and no criminal proceedings have yet been opened.

Studhalter himself recently told Blick that he had informed his colleagues on the SFL committee about the situation. “Shareholder conflicts are a normal phenomenon in football – my colleagues are actually no longer angry about that. They responded calmly.” The SFL has an excellent management team and its work is “focused and with mutual respect”.

In addition, the club representatives chose the following eight candidates for the committee: Patrick Burgmeier (Vaduz, new), Sandro Burki (Aarau, new), Michele Campana (Lugano, previously), David Degen (Basel, previously), Urs Egger (independent member, formerly). ), Wanja Greuel (YB, previously), Matthias Hüppi (St. Gallen, previously) and Vincent Steinmann (Lausanne-Sport, new).
