Red Star fans are angry with their players after the draw against Topola.

The fans of top Serbian club Red Star Belgrade have never been known for their patience. The expectations of the football players who put on the shirt are enormous. The current players found this out in an unpleasant way on Wednesday evening.

Things are actually not going too badly for YB’s Champions League group opponents. In October, apart from the competitions in the premier class, he won all competitions. He is in second place in the competition, but once the new month has started, Red Star only plays a draw in an additional match against table neighbors Topola.

Fans are completely panicking

This result has the fans in complete panic as they are now six points behind their eternal city rivals Partizan in the league. Way too much from Red Star’s point of view! According to the Serbian daily Danas, after the final whistle in the Marakana in Belgrade, a number of ultras faced the players and the entire technical staff for dozens of minutes.

The Ultras would not have spared anyone during their angry speech. They should have “explained” to the players which club they play for. Defeats and draws are a no-go in the championship. According to Serbian information, Israeli coach Barak Bahar received the most criticism.

The club management reassures the coach

When the confrontation ended, Bahar reportedly asked the club’s management to immediately report the incident to the football associations UEFA and FIFA. But that doesn’t happen, so the situation doesn’t escalate further. According to the newspaper, the club management tried to calm the coach. She also allegedly explained to him that in Serbia it is normal for fans to simply express their frustration.

And that’s why the club finally issued a press release. In it, the management explains their dissatisfaction with the draw and the playing style of the past matches, but at the same time supports their coach. How long this will last remains to be seen. This weekend, Red Star will take on bottom-placed Radnik. The Serbs travel to Bern for what is likely to be the decisive group match at the end of November. (cef)
