Nicolas Rimoldi, chairman of Mass-voll, announced via video message that the referendum against the extension of the Covid 19 law had been held. (archive image)

“We did it,” Nicolas Rimoldi, president of the Mass-voll movement, and Roland Bühlmann, co-chair of the Friends of the Constitution, announced in a video. Although a large portion of the signatures have not yet been sworn in, they are very optimistic that they have made it. For the referendum to take place officially, 50,000 certified signatures are needed.

The referendum is against the extension of individual provisions of the Covid-19 law from December 2022. This includes, for example, the legal basis for issuing Covid-19 certificates.

The Covid-19 law has been in force since September 2020 and has since been amended several times by parliament. The electorate has so far supported the law in two referendum votes.
