President of Microsoft Switzerland: “Switzerland has a leading role in the field of artificial intelligence”

Microsoft has been offering its artificial intelligence assistant Copilot to Swiss customers since November. More than 200 companies and startups have used it since then, as Microsoft Switzerland boss Catrin Hinkel (54) said in an interview with “NZZ am Sonntag”. Negotiators from the European Parliament and EU countries agreed on a corresponding law at the beginning of December. According to the EU Parliament, this is the world’s first artificial intelligence law. The European Parliament and the states still need to approve the project, which is considered a formality. Accordingly, artificial intelligence systems need to be divided into different risk groups. The higher the potential dangers of an application, the higher the requirements should be. Our hope is that the rules will be copied around the world.
