Despite Credit Suisse’s integration into UBS…

The number of positions advertised at UBS has actually increased by 15 percent since October. The big bank advertised a total of 185 positions in November. This is shown by an analysis by job portal Indeed, which counts and analyzes job openings advertised on the websites of Switzerland’s ten largest banks every month for news agency AWP. Only positions based in Switzerland will be considered.

Despite widespread job cuts announced as a result of the merger with CS, the number of advertised positions at UBS has increased steadily since the summer. At the end of November, almost 70 percent more jobs were posted on the UBS website than in August.

UBS and CS are seeking employees for a wide range of positions. IT professionals of all types are particularly in demand.

“No one is getting fired right now because too many people are defecting,” a CS executive told Blick a month ago. Because as long as CS’s IT systems still work, we need people to run and maintain them. The same applies to processing payment transactions.

More admin jobs at UBS and fewer at CS

According to Indeed’s analysis, it is noteworthy that while there are relatively few adverts for executive positions at Credit Suisse, there are a large number of such positions on offer at UBS. Most advertisements on the CS website clearly state that the bank is now a subsidiary of UBS and continues its business as such. And “experienced experts” will continue to be recruited as needed.

However, UBS is not the only bank where the number of positions announced increased in November. The situation was the same at Raiffeisen Group and Bank Vontobel. Raiffeisen banks report a particularly high number of open positions, with 198 positions advertised. In addition to UBS and CS, behind Raiffeisen are Zürcher Kantonalbank with 96 job postings and Julius Baer with 69 job postings.

Overall, the number of vacancies at the largest Swiss banks remained stable in November at the level reached in October. Previously, there were fewer job postings in August and September. (SDA/uro)
