In South Korea, an industrial robot crushed a technician to death because he mistook it for a vegetable box. The fatal incident occurred at an agricultural product distribution center, Yonha news agency reported on Wednesday. The nearly 40-year-old employee of a robotics company had just checked the robot’s sensors when it grabbed him and pushed his upper body against the conveyor belt, crushing his chest and face.

The man was taken to hospital but succumbed to serious injuries, Yonhap reported to police. The robot apparently malfunctioned and mistook its victim for one of the pepper cans it was using. (AFP)
