Most modern airport: Singapore abolishes boarding passes and passports

Communications Minister Josephine Teo announced the move during a parliamentary session where several amendments to the country’s immigration law were passed.

The “token” will be used at various automated contact points, from baggage drop to immigration control and boarding. Therefore, there is no need for physical documents. The minister did not explain how long passenger data would be stored.

Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named the world’s best airport several times. It is a hub in Asia and served more than 5 million passengers in June alone, and the number is growing.
