Open points in the uniform financing of health care services

Parliament has already decided that outpatient and inpatient healthcare should be financed in a uniform manner in the future. However, there are still a number of open issues when it comes to long-term care, even after the recent debate in the Council of States.

The Commission for Social Security and Health of the Council of States (SGK-S) had asked its Council by a clear majority to adhere to previous decisions when reviewing the financing of health care services. The Council of States followed this example on Wednesday. The bill therefore goes back to the National Council. It needs to be cleaned up in the current session.

In principle, the councils agree that long-term care must be integrated into so-called monism. But many details are controversial: the Council of States wants to set a seven-year deadline for integration from January 1 after the revision has been implemented. The National Council, on the other hand, wants to impose additional conditions that the Council of States rejects.
