Britney Spear’s father speaks out – and justifies himself

For 13 years he had custody of his daughter Britney – now he justifies it with various reasons.

Britney Spears has been fighting for her freedom for a year now. For thirteen years, the pop star was under the care of her father Jamie Spears.

To regain control of her life, she described the crushing circumstances of her heteronomous life in court. She talked about total surveillance, a father who liked to control her, and forced birth control.

But custody was necessary to save the 41-year-old – at least that’s how Jamie Spears now defends himself in an interview with “The Mail on Sunday”. “It was a hell of a time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and with all my soul. Where would Britney be without that custody? I don’t know if she would still be alive,” he describes his opinion.

The 70-year-old emphasizes that custody was also inevitable in relation to her role as a mother. “I don’t think she would have gotten the kids back without her.” Sean, 17, and Jayden, who is a year younger, are from his marriage to Kevin Federline. “The main goal was for Britney and her children to have a good relationship again.” Jamie Spears teamed up with Federline for this. “We were the ones raising the kids,” he says.

The fact that Britney Spears is not only able to live independently again today, but is also in good shape financially, is partly due to her father. Because the artist didn’t have $50 million at the beginning of custody, as it was reported – “she was broke,” her father reveals.

The time under her father’s control put her back on her feet financially. “We worked – and she worked.” During those 13 years, Britney Spears released four albums, completed three world tours and performed one show in Las Vegas for two years.

But because of his tireless efforts, he has now lost his daughter. He also does not see his two grandchildren at the moment. “I don’t know why, but it’s been three hard years without her. The family is a mess. All we can do is pray,” said the American. Looking back, he says: “I want to say that I made a difference . I had a few people who really helped us to help her.”
