He would not have been allowed in the film during its original theatrical release!
But because of the great success, the ingenious costume designs (by fashion great Jean-Paul Gaultier!) and the spicy action, ‘The Fifth Element’ inevitably left an impression: the advertising for the extensively deceived sci-fi hit made its mark, and just like the movie Years later it was finally shown on free TV and of course it was watched!
This was already impressive and later became Bessons beautiful spectacle Of course I also bought it for my own home theater. But then the author of this article had a momentous opportunity: in 2008, “The Fifth Element” was performed again at an event in his region. “Last chance” was what the information about the event said at the time (which thankfully wasn’t true).
The room was full of euphoric people who looked back on a similar story with ‘The Fifth Element’: Many had missed the film in the cinema (thanks to a late birth), but learned to love it at home in front of the television. Unexpectedly, they were finally able to experience it as it should be – and the room was electrified!
