Contact tracing must be supplemented by a variety of other measures that take into account the specific characteristics of a particular disease, the University of Geneva (Unige) announced on Wednesday.
To evaluate the effectiveness of contact tracing during the corona epidemic, a research team led by Delphine Courvoisier from the University of Geneva analyzed data from more than 140,000 corona cases recorded in the canton of Geneva between June 2020 and March 2022.
The results, published in the journal “Eurosurveillance”, show that an average of 41 percent of people infected by someone living in the same household were reported to have been subject to contact tracing by that person. People in wealthy neighborhoods were less likely to report their contacts.
