To spot film errors you need a good eye, a lot of attention and a keen sense of deduction. This is at least doubly true in a Michael Bay film, as they are often edited so quickly that it’s easy to miss details that are even important to the plot.
It’s all the more amazing how Reddit user u/thejokerjackson managed to appear in Bay’s Netflix hit “6 Underground” (2019). to look so closely at the right moment that he noticed what was actually a microscopic detail, where you might still get the impression that protagonist Ryan Reynolds is in two places at once – and in the middle of a completely confusing action scene!
Is Ryan Reynolds here in two places at once?
The passage can be found in the film at 14 minutes and 42 seconds, during the fast-paced opening scene, which consists of a nearly twenty-minute chase through Florence. At this point, through the window of the car in which the ‘Deadpool’ star is sitting in the passenger seat, you can see a car tilting in the air – and for about a second the camera pans to the street behind it. If you don’t pay close attention to the background, you won’t notice anything unusual in the scene. And even those who do have little reason to be confused at first glance. You see a completely normal street and a barely visible person standing in front of a red wall. So?
You can see which position this concerns here:
But no matter how inconspicuous the person in the background seems: In fact, it’s most likely none other than… Ryan Reynolds!
In a promotional video that the 46-year-old filmed on the set of ‘6 Underground’, Reynolds – also dressed in dark clothing – stands in front of a red wall that looks suspiciously like the one in the background of the photo.
Here you can see a screenshot of the promotional video for comparison:
Of course, that alone wouldn’t be proof. But the point of the video is that the “Free Guy” star tries in vain to explain the movie — all while being interrupted by the sound of a simultaneous car stunt happening behind him. If you watch the video again you can clearly see that it is the same car as in the mentioned point – And so in the final film you not only see Reynolds driving through Tuscany in a green car, but you also see Reynolds recording an Instagram video at the same time!
