If your job requires you to talk a lot every day, this can tire your voice. Therefore, proper care of the vocal cords is the be-all and end-all for a strong voice. With just a few tricks, you can effortlessly fill the room with your voice and have this competence attributed to you thanks to the powerful sound. A comfortable sound not only benefits your health, it also looks nice.

Make sure you don’t go out as soon as you wake up. After a long pause in speaking, you should start opening your mouth again very slowly. First of all, warm up your vocal cords by humming lightly in the morning shower. You can also tap your chest repeatedly. Only then should you sit at the breakfast table and start having quiet conversations before going to the noisy workplace.

Many times we automatically speak in a higher tone than we need to. This is because our vocal cords are tense and vibrate more often than relaxed ones. Pause and cough briefly while speaking. If your voice sounds deeper than before, you should generally go deeper when speaking.

Drink lots of tea

Tea is a balm for our voice: Drinking a lot makes the vocal cords more flexible and durable. Tea is especially suitable here. This also provides better protection of the mucous membranes against infections. In addition to fruit teas, various herbal teas such as thyme and sage are also good for the voice.

Also be quiet sometimes

If you think your voice is disturbing, you should remain silent for a while. Constant chatter strains the vocal cords, and this is often not noticed: only after a certain period of time does the body react with hoarseness and itching in the throat. Teachers and actors, for example, know this because they talk about it all the time in daily life. Solution: Stay quiet whenever possible. And don’t whisper, as this puts more strain on the vocal cords.

Cough and do not clear your throat

If your voice is in danger of breaking, you should under no circumstances clear your throat, even if this is the natural reaction. This puts an additional load on the delicate mucous membranes of the vocal cords. It is better to cough silently. This helps too.

Open your mouth properly

Not only should you open your mouth wide when singing, you should also make sure you open your mouth correctly when speaking. This benefits the neck muscles that become tense when talking if we don’t open our mouth wide enough.

Stay away from coffee, cigarettes and alcohol

Coffee, cigarettes and alcohol are poison for the voice. They attack the mucous membranes of the vocal cords. Therefore: stay away from it!
