Latin Grammy: Winners of this twenty-fourth edition

The 24th edition of the Latin Grammys, the first held in Spain, crowned the repóker kings and queens that make the American of Mexican origin Édgar Barrera, the Argentinian Bizarrap, the Mexican Natalia Lafourcade and the Colombians Shakira and Karol G at a gala ceremony especially powerful for their country.

Lafourcade celebrated the “healing power” of music after admitting this was the “most personal album” of her career, at a time when she was “all broken”.

“I can’t believe this year is the best an album of urban music by a woman” exclaimed Karol G when she received this accolade for her ‘Mañana Will Be Nice’, which has yet to win a Latin Grammy for Album of the Year. Off-camera, she also won Best Urban Fusion/Performance for ‘TQG’ with Shakira, which experienced a night as musically powerful as it was last year.

Much of that success came from him artistic gathering with Argentinian DJ and producer Bizarrap with ‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53′, with which the Colombian woman catalyzed her frustration due to infidelity and the end of her relationship with soccer player Gerard Piqué.

For their part, Spain’s Quevedo and Argentina’s Bizarrap won the award for best urban song as composers of their famous song ‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52’, which has already achieved the feat of staying at number one in the world for seven weeks. Spotify.

The Argentinian producer and DJ, who started this whole adventure “in his room with a computer”, then quoted “all the children who are starting, to see that with very little you can achieve a lot”, while his ally Canario wanted to thank the audience “for took the song to where it took” and made them “an example of what can be done from nothing”.

A ceremony with an Andalusian flavor

That this is the first edition based in Spain and outside the United States it was felt in numerous gestures such as the gigantic fans on stage or the flamenco number that, between fiery reds and the touch of hammer and anvil, artists like Israel Fernández and Niña Pastori, winner of the best album of this category.

The Spanish flavor was felt even more at the beginning television broadcastfirst with Rosalía’s delicate flamenco quejío version of ‘Se nos roto el amor’ popularized by her compatriot Rocío Jurado and, immediately after, with the revival of ‘Corazón partío’, performed by Alejandro Sanz surrounded by a large troupe dance between manila shawls and a fan.

Also Antonio Banderas, who received the award Presidential Award 2023 For his support of art and, especially, music, he wanted to praise the change of location in this edition to Andalucia, a “fertile country” for creators such as Federico García Lorca or Rafael Alberti.
