Triple negative facts about breast cancer

According to international health organizations, triple-negative breast cancer represents between 10% and 15% of all cases.

It is considered one of the most aggressive because it is more likely to spread by the time it is detected and more likely to return after treatment compared to other types of breast cancer.

Triple negative breast cancer is different from other types breast cancer invasive because it tends to grow and spread faster.

Breast self-examination plays a vital role in this regard, however, it is not a common practice among women. For this reason, it is important for women to know their breasts, so they know when they are normal and when to report any change.

This disease tends to be more common in women under 40 and in young blacks.

It is characterized by the fact that it does not have receptors for estrogen or progesterone, nor does it produce an excessive amount of a protein called human epidermal growth factor (HER2), which makes it more difficult to treat compared to other types of breast cancer, said Ignacio Véliz, a medical oncologist.

Immunotherapy

A stage or stage (expansion) of breast cancer is an important factor in making decisions about your treatment options, adds Véliz.

The immunotherapy using substances -regardless of whether the body produces them naturally or artificially in the laboratory- as a strengthening of the immune system to stop or delay the growth of cancer cells, preventing their spread to other parts of the body and better acting on their removal.

The immunotherapy can be used alone or in combined with chemotherapy or other types of cancer treatment.

Behavioral choices and related interventions that reduce breast cancer risk include:

– Prolonged breastfeeding.

– Regular physical exercise.

– Body weight control.

– Avoid the harmful consumption of alcohol.

– Avoid exposure to tobacco smoke.

– Avoid long-term use of hormones.

– Avoid excessive exposure to radiation.
