Hollywood has been in the middle of a double strike for over 60 years that will shake up the dream factory and have a major impact on the public. After the screenwriters, actors are now also demanding better wages. Even if the stars’ salaries often run into the millions, the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA represents about 160,000 actors and stunt people who are just making ends meet. You can read more about the background of the strike in this article:
It was foreseeable that the strikes would also have a negative impact on film buffs and could now become more concrete as Hollywood studios potentially delay their films. If the strikes last longer and actors don’t do PR work anymore (interviews, ads and the like are just as important as trailers), could that be loud let us now”Dune: part two” And “Aquaman 2: Lost Kingdom“had to wait a while. The theatrical releases are currently scheduled for this year: “Dune 2” on November 2 and “Aquaman 2” on December 21.
However, nothing has yet been confirmed that Studio Warner is really thinking about postponing the two blockbusters. Legendary Entertainment, co-producer of “Dune: Part Two,” has not yet commented on the allegations. If the two films are postponed, it will naturally lead to great frustration among the public. “Dune 2” in particular is one of the most anticipated films of the year, although the background is more than understandable from a solidarity point of view.
An opportunity for Warner and the cinema?
However, a possible delay could certainly be an advantage for Warner. Since not only “Dune: Part Two” and “Aquaman 2: Lost Kingdom” are postponed, the new adaptation “The Color Purple”, which Steven Spielberg already edited in the mid-1980s, still plays a role here. The racism drama’s scheduled theatrical release is January 18 in Germany, but December 25 in North America. With that, the three films would be quite in each other’s way. A problem that can be observed in many places this year.
It remains to be seen if it will eventually happen that “Dune 2” and “Aquaman 2” are postponed. But it’s only a matter of time before the big studios actually start delaying their movies. For now, however, nothing is certain.
