Stellantis Vigo announces 700 contracts to cover the new shift

Stellantis Vigo from mid-September, it will work at maximum capacity. It will do so by putting into operation the fourth work shift, which will cover the operation of the plant on Saturdays and Sundays, for which, as announced today to the works council, it will hire 700 new workers.

The workforce of Stellantis Vigo currently consists of 5,700 employees, most of whom are on permanent contracts, since the crisis in the supply of electronic components that the automotive sector is suffering globally has forced the management of the factory in Galicia to activate three consecutive temporary employment regulations ( ERTE), to mitigate activity interruptions.

But forecasts managed by Stellantis have improved, at least for the second half of the year. As the management explained to the union representatives, stability is expected in the course of the supply chain, especially for electronic parts whose delivery failed due to the global microchip crisis. Some were added to this improvement of the factory’s supply network production forecasts upwards, due to increased demand a series of light commercial vehicles produced by Stellantis in Vigo, on the same production line, under the brands Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Toyota and Fiat.
