Sentury wants to start work on the As Pontes tire factory this year

The Xunta de Galicia will do everything in its power and within its powers to ensure the construction of a tire factory that Sentury tire wants to spend in the municipality of As Pontes can start this year. This is how Galician President Alfonso Rueda conveyed to the head of the Chinese group, qinlongwith whom he met yesterday in Santiago.

At the meeting was Rueda, who was accompanied by the first vice president and Minister of Economyindustry and innovation, Francisco Conde, appreciated the commitment to Galicia shown by Sentury through the alleged implementation of a tire factory in its territory.

Long, Rueda and Conde assessed the state of the administrative process of the construction of the future Pontesa factory, in which the Chinese company intends to invest 531 million euros and create 750 direct jobs. A project that, considering its size, is one of the four declared strategic by the Galician government. As explained by the Xunta in a statement, this qualification that has been granted implies, among other advantages, the prioritization of its processing, “Like the reduction to the goal of two established deadlines, there is no procedure” joint administrative.

The Galician president conveyed all his support to the scope of the regional administration’s powers to be able to lay the first stone in this factory for the production of high-performance semi-steel radial tires from which Sentury intends to produce 12 million units per year.

Alfonso Rueda also confirmed that the Xunta «No great efforts were made to rationalize and simplify the acquisition of investments that would accompany Sentury during the installation process in Galicia.

In his visit to Santiago yesterday, Long reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the project, which could generate 700 direct jobs. Such is the determination of the group that Sentury signed including supply contracts with Endes to supply the new As Pontes tire factory with renewable energy. He has also applied to the public entity Augas de Galicia for a concession to use Lake As Pontes to undertake an industrial process related to the tire factory he is designing for the municipality. Likewise, the company requested a water flow — also for human consumption — of 700 cubic meters per day.
