They approve compensating electricity distributors

The Cabinet Council approved the state’s contributions of slightly more than 40 million dollars according to Tariff Stabilization Fund (FET) and Western Customs Fund (FOT) partially compensate electricity distribution companies that benefited from discounts on final bills 1 million 76 thousand 884 clients which consumed less than 300 kilowatts per hour (KV/h) during the months from January to April and part of May 2023.

As announced by the Presidency, in the first instance, the decision was approved, which sums up the sum $28,553,487.99FET, for partial compensation to the electricity distribution companies Elektra Noreste, SA, Empresa de Distribución Eléctrica Metro-Oeste, SA and Empresa de Distribución Eléctrica Chiriquí, SA, for the contributions awarded to 899 thousand 636 customers with a low Simple Voltage tariff (BTS) and consumption up to 300 kh, during the months from January to April and part of May 2023, from the State Treasury.

Also, the Government approved another resolution recording a contribution to the Western Tariff Fund (FTO) in the amount of $11,474,299.77, to compensate the Electricity Distribution Company of Chiriquí, SA (EDECHI) for the benefits applied to 177,248 end customers, including Almirante, Guabito, Las Tablas, Changuinola and surrounding areas, during the months of January to April and part of May 2023.

The Government Council was headed by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen and Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo.
