Stars Munchausen syndrome: why Eminem left his mother

Eminem’s real name is Marshal Bruce Matters III. He was born into a family of young musicians who came together based on the love of music, but did not make a successful career.

His mother, Deborah Mathers-Briggs, married early. At the time of her marriage to Marshal Bruce Matters Jr. she was just over 15 years old. Three years later, she gave birth to her first child. Deborah later said that her labor lasted more than 70 hours and became a real hell that almost cost her her life. Marshal was born in October 1972 in the small town of St. Joseph in the state of Missouri. Soon the family moved to North Dakota, where the father got a position as a hotel manager.

Later, Eminem’s mother recalled that she left her husband in a hurry. She took the children and moved with her mother to Missouri. What happened between her and her husband is unknown. Marshal Bruce Matters, Jr. himself did not give an interview during his lifetime. He remarried and moved to California with his new family. The young marshal wrote letters to his father, but they returned. In 2001, Marshal Bruce Matters Jr. appeared. and said that Eminem’s money is not important to him, he just wants to talk to his son. But the rapper did not give him such an opportunity.

Mother Deborah tried to establish her personal life, so until the age of five, Marshall lived under the supervision of relatives.

Eminem’s family eventually moved to Detroit. The boy grew up in a not very healthy environment. The mother kept bringing guys into the house. Marshall’s male role model was his uncle Todd Nelson, who served six years for manslaughter.

Another uncle, Ronnie, was dishonorably discharged from the US Army. He introduced Marshall to rap. Ronnie died of a gunshot wound.

Deborah Mathers-Briggs was described by neighbors as a devoted but crazy mother. In 1996, she was deprived of custody of her son Nathan, Marshall’s younger brother. The social worker concluded by suggesting that the woman suffered from Munchausen syndrome and could injure the child.

When they investigated the conditions in which Eminem’s brother Nathan lived, social workers at the school were told that Deborah had accused neighbors of beating her son, trashing her mailbox, killing her dog and performing satanic rituals. She believed the naysayers mailed her a tarantula. Deborah repeatedly called the police to investigate the absurd allegations against the neighbors. She was deprived of custody of Nathan and the guy lived in foster families for a year.

His mother sued the school

Eminem was bullied by his peers as a child. When he was nine years old, he was severely beaten by D’Angelo Bailey, a black teenager who played center on his high school basketball team. Eminem suffered a severe head injury, fell into a coma for several days, and then temporarily lost his sight and hearing. A mother sued the school for failing to keep her son safe. However, the judge dismissed the lawsuit on the grounds that the law protects the school from similar lawsuits. The story continued. In the song Brain Damage, Eminem mentioned Bailey. He sued the artist, but the judge dismissed his claim and wrote a rap-style conclusion in the form of 10 rhyming lines.

He was abandoned by his mother and father
