The safest Volvo ever! Volvo EX90
The presentation of the new Polestar 3 took place in Copenhagen about three weeks ago. Now we’ve traveled a little further north, Stockholm to be precise, to introduce a car on the same platform: the Volvo EX90.
In terms of design, the Volvo EX90 is definitely total. In fact, the Swedes have largely retained the design language of the previous XC90.
The Volvo EX90 is the safest ever
Standard on the Volvo EX90 are the seven seats on board. However, the roof and front of this EX90 are lower than the XC90. This is to improve aerodynamics. The closed rims and the removal of the radiator grille also contribute to the improved aerodynamics.
If you look at the interior, it’s almost identical to that of the Polestar 3. Very minimalistic design with a large 15-inch central display, few physical buttons and a screen behind the steering wheel. The interior of the Volvo EX90 is made from non-animal and recycled materials. Another striking feature is this wooden finish that includes lighting that lights up at night.
With the right foot, 408 hp and 770 Nm are available in the basic version. If you opt for the performance model, the EX90 delivers 517 hp and 910 Nm. The fastest model sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.9 seconds. The basic version lasts 1 bar longer. The maximum speed is always limited to 180 kilometers per hour.
Always a 111 kWh battery pack
Whichever version you choose, the Volvo EX90 always has a 111 kWh battery pack on board, of which 107 kWh can be used. According to WLTP, the least powerful version has a range of around 600 kilometers. The 517 hp variant is 10 kilometers less far. Although it is less streamlined and at around 2800 kilograms around 200 kilograms heavier than the Polestar, this competitor is only 10 kilometers further. All versions can fast charge up to 250 kW. That means you can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
The Volvo EX90 has a starting price of 102,495 euros or 1549 euros per month (48 months). If you want the performance version, you have to pay an extra 5000 euros. Volvo estimates that 50 percent of this model will be sold online and 50 percent at Volvo dealerships. Production will start at the end of 2023.
