Honda will sell “zero” electric cars
You could say that about the success of the electric Honda e in Europe, which made an inglorious retreat at the end of last year, but no… Honda is using the zero for a whole new series of electric vehicles.
The Honda e looks good, has a nice interior and drives great. In this respect, we would prefer it to the other electric Honda, the e:NY1, if its high price were not disproportionate to its limited range. This made it difficult to sell him in Europe and led to his early retirement.
Honda’s zero series
At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Honda is introducing a new generation of electric cars, the Zero series. Why is it called that? The Saloon and Space Hub study models were developed from scratch and aim not to pollute the environment and not cause fatal traffic casualties.
The new logo that the sedan and the Space Hub are equipped with proves that Honda is serious about the zero series. It’s still the familiar H from Honda, but without the familiar border. The first zero-series models are scheduled to go on sale in North America in 2026. Then they also come to Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
Honda seems to be in a quandary with Saloon and Space-Hub, because the models not only have to be low, light and affordable, but also sporty, partially automated and intelligent thanks to smart software and artificial intelligence. What’s notable is that Honda states that the zero-series battery can be charged from 15 to 80 percent in fifteen minutes.
This makes it either very fast or very small. Specifications are not yet available. All we know is that the Saloon will be the wedge-shaped flagship of the Zero series and the Space Hub will be the versatile spacecraft. We have to wait the longest for the latter. In two years it will be the saloon’s turn first. As it stands now, we won’t see it on the market again, it’s too conceptual.
