If you want to buy a Volvo with a diesel engine, you are already too late
If you want to buy a Volvo with a diesel engine, all you have to do in a few months is go to the used car market – or look for existing models. The brand will stop selling diesel engines. As a Dutchman, you are already too late.
Diesel has always been an important fuel for Volvo, as for many other manufacturers. When the brand was taken over by the Chinese Geely in 2010, new (diesel) engines were still being built.
No more diesel engines in a Volvo
The focus at Volvo is now clearly on electricity. And diesels aren’t nearly as popular as they once were. Still, it’s a big step to completely remove the diesel engine from your offering.
The last Volvo with the “D” counter on the back of the body will roll off the assembly line in early 2024.
This was already the case in the Netherlands
For the Netherlands, the discontinuation of diesel engines has no impact on the model range. The importer has no longer imported diesel engines into the Netherlands since 2019. If you want to buy a new Volvo with a diesel engine in our country, you are already too late.
