Philipp Kutter is back! The centrist national councilor and mayor of Wädenswil returned to parliament in Bern on Wednesday.

Centrist National Councilor Philipp Kutter (48) has returned to politics in Bern after his serious accident. This was announced by his party, the Centre

Kutter will participate again in the autumn session from Wednesday, Bregy confirmed to Blick. Kutter’s desk was decorated with yellow roses in the city council on Wednesday morning.

The president of the National Council, Martin Candinas (43), was audibly emotional about the news of his return. In a statement, he described Kutter’s return as a personal “highlight of the fall session.” “You give courage to many people,” Candinas said to his party colleague Kutter. The members of the National Council rose to a long applause.

Kutter recently visited the Federal Palace with his therapist and a specialist in barrier-free construction – apparently in preparation for his return to parliament.

Kutter resumed his work as mayor of Wädenswil in August. He again participated in city council meetings online.

Serious skiing accident

The Center National Councilor suffered a serious accident on the ski slope in Scuol GR in February. Diagnosis: The fourth and fifth cervical vertebrae are broken, his spinal cord is injured but not severed. Both legs were paralyzed.

Kutter has been in a wheelchair since the accident and continues to receive care at the spinal cord injury center in Nottwil LU.

Even with a wheelchair, it was always clear to him that he wanted to remain politically active. The Zurich Center nominated him for the Council of States. Kutter is also No. 1 on the National Council’s list.
