Bitter for the Taliban: A military helicopter crashed into a power line while on patrol.

As the Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday, two pilots were killed in the accident in the north of the country.

The exact cause of the accident was initially unclear. The incident happened while on patrol in Samangan province. All that is known is that the helicopter crashed into a power line before the crash.

International troops left behind a lot of military equipment

The militant Islamist group has been back in power since the summer of 2021. After their chaotic withdrawal, international forces left behind billions of dollars in military equipment.

It is unclear how many helicopters, including some from the US, are in the hands of the Taliban-led government.

Technical maintenance issues

Since taking power, the Taliban have acquired expertise in air transport. At the moment, however, technical maintenance is still causing them problems.

During the resistance, unlike the Afghan National Army, the Islamists did not have an air force. (SDA)
