According to consistent media reports, the Frankfurt am Main labor court has proposed a settlement between Deutsche Bahn and the EVG union. The EVG would have agreed and waived the mega rail strike.
Deutsche Bahn had announced earlier on Saturday morning that it had filed a corresponding urgent request with the labor court. The reason given was that the national warning strike by the Railway and Transport Association (EVG) was disproportionate and harmful to customers and uninvolved third parties.
Although the railways offered a wage increase of more than 10 percent and approached the union several times, they stuck to Sunday night’s strike. The urgent application to the court is “now necessary in the interest of customers”, Deutsche Bahn continues.
From 10 p.m. on Sunday, the EVG called for the third warning strike this year on the railways and threatened to paralyze rail traffic for 50 hours. The result would have been renewed travel chaos at the expense of travelers. (nad)
