Two men hanged for blasphemy in Iran

Two men have been executed in Iran on charges of blasphemy. The judicial authority of Mizan announced this on its web portal on Monday. According to the state news site Irna, the suspects were hanged early in the morning.

The judiciary charged the men named Jusuf Mehrdad and Sadrollah Faseri Sare with including spreading blasphemous insults against Islam and the Prophet in chat groups. So should the suspect Contact with anti-religious networks have had. The Mizan Judicial Authority also reports a video of a Quran being burned on Mehrdad’s mobile phone.

Human rights activists have been criticizing Iran’s use of the death penalty for years. However, executions for blasphemy are extremely rare in the country ruled by Shia clerics.
