At least nine people died, among them a child, and seven more were injured after the shooting that took place in a shopping center in the city Allen, in Texasin the southern United States. The attacker was killed by the police.

According to Allen Police Department Chief Brian Harvey, the attacker was neutralized by the agent who was on duty at the mall. When he heard the shots, the officer “saw” and then “neutralized” the suspect before calling 911, which evacuated several wounded.

Six people and the attacker were found dead at the scene, while nine were transported to hospitals, and two died at the Health Center. Three others are receiving “critical operations” and four are “in stable condition,” the police chief said. At least one of the deceased is a child.

Pictures released by the media showed dozens of people leaving the shopping center, many of them with their hands above their heads.

According to the news portal BNOa man arrived by car, stopped at an H&M store, got out of his vehicle and immediately opened indiscriminate fire on people who were shopping.

“We were in front of the store and we heard all these shots”the woman who was shopping with her daughter explained to the television network foxnews. “We all just stopped, and then a second later, it’s just ‘Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,’ and sparks were flying like it was right in front of us.”

A 17-year-old man spoke with The New York Times and stated that he was in his car, having arrived earlier for his shift at one of the stores when he heard “probably more than 20 gunshots” and saw people running out of the store.

After what happened, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement in which he explained that he was in contact with the mayor of the municipality and offered him “the full support of the state”, “necessary help and resources”. ” “Our hearts go out to the people of Allen, Texas tonight during this unspeakable tragedy,” the Republican said.

The United States has experienced at least 198 mass shootings so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines mass shootings as those in which four or more people are killed, not including the perpetrator of the attack.
