Republic leader arrested

The leader of the Republic group, which consists of opponents of the British monarchy, Graham Smithdetained by the police, reports The Guardian.

Smith was collecting drinks and banners for protesters in Trafalgar Square when he was stopped by the police. The arrest, which took place around 7:30 a.m. local time, came as hundreds of protesters carried large banners and T-shirts with anti-monarchist messages.

The Guardian also recalled that the Met Police have warned on social media that they will have a “low tolerance” for people who intend to “undermine” the coronation.

The place of concentration was not chosen by chance. Opponents of the monarchy in the United Kingdom stood next to the statue of Charles I, who was beheaded on January 30, 1649.

The rain appears

Umbrellas will be part of the coronation color. The first drops have already started to fall. According to the Met Office, there is a 60% chance of light precipitation from 9:00am (UK time).

The first guests arrive

Guests begin to arrive at Westminster Abbey. In total, there will be about 2,200 people who will witness the coronation of Carlos III.

The monarch and Camila will begin the royal procession at 11:20 a.m., but large crowds have already been waiting for hours on The Mall and Whitehall, the two main roads in London that connect Buckhinham Palace to the abbey.

Great Britain is preparing for a historic day. 70 years later, the country will once again host the coronation of a new king. Carlos III takes over from his mother, Elizabeth II, in a cut-throat ceremony compared to the previous one held in the same setting, Westminster Abbey, in 1953.

The Monarch will get most of the attention, but not all. The role of his successor, son William, Duke of Cambridge; the coronation of the Queen consort, Camila, or the discreet seat reserved for Enrique, Duke of Sussex, are other things to consider.

The crowning of millionaires begins with a budget close to 100 million euros and more than 2,000 guests, including the Spanish kings.
