The fifth country with the most weapons in the hands of civilians
Shootings are not very common in Serbia, especially in student neighborhoods. But after the war in Yugoslavia in the 1990s, many of the participants kept the weapons they fought with. Research conducted by the Small Arms Survey, associated with Swiss academia, puts Serbia in fifth place in the world with the most weapons in the hands of civilians. More precisely, 37 per 100 inhabitants.
The country, however, has a very restrictive weapon policy, whereby the acquisition of weapons must be done on the black market and illegally.
