Shots were fired at a school in Belgrade, Serbia, on Wednesday morning. The Ministry of the Interior announced that the police had arrested a suspected shooter (14).
The shots were fired from his father’s gun, he said. Several media outlets also reported deaths. The alleged perpetrator, a seventh grade student, is said to have fired shots at students and school staff.
The news portal nova.rs reported, citing unspecified sources, that the alleged perpetrator broke into a classroom and shot at the students. At least eight children and a guard were killed. The portal of the state television channel RTS reported that at least three schoolchildren have been taken to the hospital. The information was initially not officially confirmed.
Large numbers of police and rescue workers flocked to the school in the center of Belgrade. The police have cordoned off the area over a large area, the media report. (SDA)
