Man kills neighbors for asking him to be quiet

The authorities accuse Francisco O.* (39) of five murders. He allegedly killed five of his neighbors with a semi-automatic rifle at a home in Cleveland, Cleveland, USA. The gunman was still on the loose Saturday, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers told the Washington Post.

There were ten people in the building at the time. Three women, a man and a boy (8) were killed, Capers said.

On Friday evening (local time), the suspect went to his neighbors’ house after they asked him to stop firing his AR-15 semi-automatic rifle in his front yard because of the noise. O. often fired his rifle into his yard, Capers continued. He got mad when the neighbors said their baby was trying to sleep at around 11 p.m. The authorities assessed video recordings showing O. going to the neighbour’s front door.

Women threw themselves protectively over children

“The neighbors came over and said, ‘Hey man, can’t you do that, we’ve got a baby here trying to sleep,'” Capers said. “They went back to her house and then we have video of him walking into her driveway in his AR-15.”

The adults were pronounced dead at the scene. The child later died in hospital. Three children survived the shooting unharmed. Two of the dead women were found in a bedroom with small children. According to Capers, they had tried to protect the children.

“It’s terrible,” Capers said. “No one should ever look at that scene, the blood, the trauma that went on in that house.”

Arrest warrant issued

Cleveland is about 40 miles northeast of downtown Houston. All the victims were from Honduras, the suspect is from Mexico.

According to the press release, the authorities issued an arrest warrant against O. on Saturday. This was the 19th U.S. shooting this year that killed at least four people, not counting the gunman, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which records U.S. shootings. (nad)
