Report: Robbery of FC Bayern by oligarchs

The German record champion is said to have been visited by officials of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department and the rooms of the Bavarians were searched. The reason: investigations into a controversial figure who made headlines in the past.

The FC Bayern office has apparently been searched by the police. That reports Bild Friday evening. According to this, officials from the federal criminal investigation department searched the Allianz Arena and the headquarters of the German record champions on Tuesday.

It therefore concerns investigations into money laundering procedures against the controversial Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov. The 69-year-old billionaire is said to be close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Like other oligarchs, Usmanov was sanctioned shortly after the start of the Russian offensive war in Ukraine and had his assets frozen. As early as September 2022, around 300 detectives across Germany had conducted searches of various Usmanow properties and assets.

According to the report, the detectives in the office of the 32-time German champion are now looking for further evidence. FC Bayern is therefore not a suspect in the least, but a witness in the proceedings. “Our authority does not carry out investigations or fines against FC Bayern Munich or those responsible or members of the club,” the “Bild” quotes the responsible general prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt/Main.

What exactly it was about and what the officials in the stadium and in Bayern’s club headquarters were looking for remains unclear. A phone call from t-online to the attorney general’s office on Friday evening went unanswered, and the agency will probably not be available again until Tuesday.
