The police publish photos of the knife attacker in Duisburg

It has been almost four days since an attacker stormed a fitness studio in Duisburg (D) and seriously injured four men with a knife. Since the bloody deed, there is no trace of the suspect.

A public inquiry should therefore now remedy the situation. As German media report, the investigators of the murder commission “Schwan” have therefore now published photos of the alleged perpetrator.

Witnesses identified the man as the perpetrator

The security camera footage from the John Reed gym shows a man walking away from the crime scene. According to the police, several witnesses identified the man as a suspect. “Both uninvolved witnesses from the studio and those directly involved have identified the person as the alleged perpetrator,” says police spokesman Stefan Hausch (60) to “Bild”.

As seen in the photos, the man, who is between 25 and 35 years old, sported a full black beard, black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. He also wore a baseball cap and carried a dark backpack.

With the publication of the photos, the researchers hope to be able to identify the alleged attacker by name. People who see the suspect should not address him, but immediately call the emergency number, according to the police. Anyone who can provide information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator will be rewarded by the public prosecutor with 2000 euros (equivalent to 1980 Swiss francs).

One victim is still in critical life-threatening condition

The motive of the perpetrator remains unclear. According to inside information, the attack would have been aimed at the youngest victim, a 21-year-old man. When the other three men (24, 24, 32) tried to stop the knife attacker, they too fell victim to him.

Of the four victims, only one man was able to leave the hospital. The youngest of them is still in mortal danger. (dzc)
