Switzerland disappears from blacklist for tax evasion

Italy removes Switzerland from its blacklist for taxing individuals. Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter has agreed this with her Italian colleague Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday.

Switzerland has been on the list since 1999. The deletion follows a political declaration signed by the two partners. According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, the step removes administrative hurdles in tax relations.

Both parties have also agreed on a mutual agreement. They want to sign this once Italy has approved the legal basis for the deletion.

The mutual agreement contains a temporary arrangement for the taxation of cross-border commuters who work from home. It is valid from February 1 to June 30, 2023. According to the communiqué, Keller-Sutter was satisfied: Two important outstanding tax issues could have been clarified.
