Cash App boss killed in robbery

The inventor of Cash App has died in a stabbing attack in San Francisco. The attack on Bob Lee († 43) is said to have taken place on Tuesday evening in the American state of California.

According to police, Lee was attacked around 3 a.m. Unfortunately, when rescuers arrived on the scene, it was already too late: Lee died in hospital from his serious stab wounds, the New York Post reports.

According to US media reports, the perpetrators are still on the run. So far, the police have not released any information about the suspects.

Lee was a household name in the tech industry. He celebrated one of his greatest successes with the American counterpart of Twint. Because: Lee is the founder of the mobile payment service Cash App and worked in the company as a technical director. In 2018, the application had only 7 million active users. Just two years later, there were already more than 30 million users.

Joshua Goldbard, CEO of Mobilecoin, called his colleague a “force of nature”. “He helped bring Android and Cash App into our world,” said Goldbard. During his successful engineering career, Bob Lee also worked sporadically at Google, where he led the Android core library team.
